The world has changed a lot in the last couple of weeks and the Open Hands guests are affected by the UK’s lockdown in different ways.
As vulnerable people in our society, many resources are not available to them and services that would normally support them are being stretched by increased claims from others who are now out of work.
Please pray for the 10 men we are housing in our three houses in these ways:
-
They normally spend a lot of time outside, so it will be particularly difficult for them at present with the restrictions on time spent outside the home.
-
Some of them are quite vulnerable health wise so pray for protection.
-
Most of them suffer from low mood/ depression so that will make things additionally difficult.
-
Pray for peace in the houses- if the guys are in 24/7 there is the increased risk of conflict.
-
It is important the houses are kept clean in the current climate to reduce the risk if infection. Money is tight for all of our guests so cleaning supplies are harder to acquire.
-
Pray that they have enough food. As you’l know Open Hands primarily support our guests by providing housing. Many asylum seekers rely on foodbanks for food, and these services are stretched at the moment.
At Open Hands we don’t give money to our guests but occasionally provide food vouchers. We would like to increase the number of vouchers we can give during the lockdown to all of our guests and have started to fund raise to make this possible. Please go to the Get Involved page to donate.
